July 12th
Kind words from Cecil Shaw who witnessed the entertainment in the Rain. The date was the 12th July 1997, the venue Newcastle and the occasion was the Annual Orange Demonstration.
A number of bands were on parade but none finer in my opinion than the Albertbridg Accordion. The marching and deportment under the command of their accomplished Drum Major was second to none.
I was also impressed by the high standard of dress; it was a credit to them and of course to the wives and mothers as well who I am sure had no small hand in this matter. But then I would expect nothing less from a band with such a long and successful tradition and pedigree.
As for the music, it was obvious that this band enjoys playing to the crowd and the long hours of practice over the long winter months had been worthwhile. This was even more evident when the weather turned inclement as the Brethren waited for their transport home. The Albertbridge entertained everyone to what can only be described as a Musical Extravaganza!
