Since 1957

Evolution

We've come a long way since 1957 when a white shirt was the order of the day. The first real uniform was bought for the trip to Canada and we have had many different ones since then as you can see from the pictures in this section.

I would also like to commend the core of band members with over 25 years service and also the ones with 30 plus, in fact Billy Cummings has been there from the start and is the only Treasurer that the Bridge has had. It says a lot about the character of these guys who have worked together to make the band a success, many people have come and gone but the core is still there.

I must not forget that we also have some female members who are a welcome addition as these days it is very difficult to recruit new members so anyone interested please get in touch by email or go to the band hall any Wednesday night.

The Colour Party

As we took some stick from a few former members it would be remiss of me not to mention The Colour Party also known as The Flying Squad, although we don't have one now it is remembered with fond memories.

We had many laughs with the funny things that happened to them, such as marching into the wrong street as the band went on up the road, getting flags caught in trees, we even had a mouse eat the Canadian flag, it was a sad day when they had to retire the flags.

We are looking for any pictures of the Colour Party to put on the website, if anyone has any could you please get in touch, either at the band hall or through the email, thanks and all pictures will be returned.

Updated on Sunday 23, 2005. We have finally got you some photos of the Squad, you can find them here.
